As part of its continued commitment to workplace diversity and equity, Sony Music Group (SMG) today announced the appointment of Tiffany R Warren to the newly created role of Executive Vice President, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
Warren will work with all of Sony Music Group’s global recorded music, publishing and corporate divisions to expand the company’s ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) activities and policies. She will report directly to SMG’s Chairman, Rob Stringer, confirmed the company.
“I am delighted to have Tiffany join our leadership team,” stated Stringer. “Her ground-breaking strategic vision, expertise and entrepreneurism will help us further our commitment to equity and long-term change inside our company and throughout the industry.”
DRIVING INCLUSION
In her role, Warren will be responsible for leading the company’s strategies to continue driving an inclusive culture and equitable workplace. Partnering with SMG’s global leadership teams, including HR and Employee Network Groups, Social Justice task forces and philanthropy efforts, she will build on SMG’s current commitments and DE&I and activities. They include hiring and promotion equity; inclusive learning and development; organisation-wide diversity and equity assessments; and diversified business and community partnerships.
Warren’s leadership experience as founder of ADCOLOR – the advertising industry’s leading organisation for promoting greater diversity in advertising, marketing, media and tech – and her role as Omnicom Group’s Chief Diversity Officer for more than 10 years “will inform the expansion of SMG’s diversity and inclusion initiatives,” added the company.
Commenting on the appointment Warren stated: “I am honoured to join Sony Music Group, as music has played such a culturally, morally and emotionally significant role in my life and the lives of many. Music has deeply impacted the shift society has taken to elevate diversity, equity and belonging. And Sony Music Group and its artists and songwriters have historically contributed to the soundtrack of these pivotal inflection points around the world. I am humbled to contribute my experience to this remarkable legacy.”
DE&I ACHIEVEMENTS
With more than 23-years under her belt, Warren has championed diverse professionals in the creative industries. Since 2009, she served as Omnicom’s global Chief Diversity Officer. In this role, she created the Omnicom People Engagement Network (OPEN), a DE&I framework, and globally focused on culture, community, collaboration and its advertising clients. During her time at Omnicom, Warren more than doubled multicultural representation within the company’s officers and managerial ranks.
Warren founded ADCOLOR to champion diversity and inclusion in the creative industries, back in 2005. The organisation’s goal is to create a community of diverse professionals who support and celebrate one another.
Additionally, she launched the Most Promising University with the American Advertising Federation to train, mentor and develop multicultural students from across the US annually. Since its inception in 2013, over 350 students have participated and launched careers in advertising, marketing and media.
