In response to the horrific events against black people in the US, the UK has launched the Black Leaders Network. The national movement has been co-founded by Paul Sesay, also the Co-founder of Inclusive CEOs, and the Founder and Director of the UK’s National Diversity Awards, with Fiona Daniel, who is also Co-founder of Inclusive CEOs.

The Black Leaders Network has been launched to help drive black inclusion, and challenge inequalities within our communities and working environment. “We cannot help but be moved by the death of George Floyd, the racism demonstrated by Amy Cooper. I feel as black leaders it is our duty to drive change, so that we can have equality for everyone,” states Sesay. “Taking the perspective of someone who is different from us requires openness and courage and some level of vulnerability.”

TIME FOR CHANGE

Sesay says they started the Black Leaders Network to “create a platform to speak up, be visible and stand up for change”. It also aims to “have the conversation about race and drive action to be taken that is about us for us”. “The time for change is now,” he adds.
