The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) has announced the launch of its Industry Partnership Program to strengthen ties with international producers and promote diversity in the screen industry. Initial partners include Crewvie.com and Screen Producers Australia, confirmed AFCI.
The programme encourages information sharing and connections between AFCI and other organisations committed to facilitating economic development and diversity in the screen industry. For AFCI members, the new programme enables even the most remote locales to connect directly with the global production community. For industry partners, it provides a platform to learn about new and diverse production resources.
Industry partners are encouraged to promote use of AFCI’s Global Production Tool – a first-of-its-kind resource to help screen sector professionals think beyond the obvious, well-known choices when it comes to selecting production locales. It enables producers to share their needs (such as locations, infrastructure, talent, incentives, etc) with AFCI members on six continents, confirmed the association.
ENCOURAGING PARTNERSHIPS
Launch partners for the industry’s new programme include global crew/production support database Crewvie.com and Screen Producers Australia, and more are more on the way, confirmed AFCI. Each will work with the association to cross-promote services to their respective members via online and offline media channels and events.
“Our goal for AFCI’s Industry Partnership Program is to support global production and promote diversity and inclusion in the storytelling process,” stated AFCI President, Jess Conoplia. “We’re proud to launch with partners like Crewvie.com and Screen Producers Australia that share our goals, and we’re excited to be in active discussions with other potential partners across multiple continents.”
INTERNATIONAL REACH
“Crewvie’s mission is to build a more balanced industry by sharing information and encouraging new connections,” said Crewvie Co-Creator Marcei Brown. “We are thrilled to partner with AFCI and work together to expand production networks around the world.”
Screen Producers Australia (SPA) CEO Matthew Deaner added, “In an increasingly global content marketplace, we are excited to partner with AFCI to help broaden the international reach of Australian stories and to showcase the world-class locations and crew Australia has to offer. Fostering a diverse and sustainable local production sector is a core part of SPA’s ethos.”
The Industry Partnership Program is part of AFCI’s strategic plan to work with organisations that can help its film commission members pursue best practices and fulfill their economic development mission. Its launch follows AFCI’s release of the first global research report on “Best Practice In Screen Sector Development,” as well as recent collaborations with global organisations such as the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI).
