More than 1,200 business and technology leaders gathered at the world’s largest tech diversity event last night, to find out who would be crowned winners of Women in IT Awards 2019.
The 21 winners were selected from over 800+ nominations and were revealed at the gala ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London’s Park Lane.

ENCOURAGING DIALOGUE
Now in its fifth year, The Women in IT Awards UK aims to tackle technology’s diversity problems, according to the event organiser Information Age. The initiative “aims to showcase the achievements of women in technology, as well as identify new role models, in a sector where female representation stands at only 19%”.
Information Age says it is continually working with its partners to “encourage dialogue around the topic of gender parity in the tech industry, and these events and summits are a platform to celebrate the wonderful women at the forefront of change and innovation”.
GLOBAL EVENT
The Women in IT Awards series, which originated in London back in 2015, has become a global initiative. Apart from London and Dublin, there are now two annual events in the United States (New York and San Francisco), and an Asia event is being launched in Singapore later this year (on 28thMarch 2019), with future events being planned across Europe and in Canada.
