WorkFair 2024

13 November 2024 marks the return of myGwork’s WorkFair, a global virtual career fair that connects LGBTQ+ students and recent graduates with top-tier inclusive employers from around the world.

myGwork, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ business platform, is thrilled to announce the of WorkFair. Powered by VFairs, this virtual event offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for LGBTQ+ students, graduates and allies to explore hundreds of job openings, chat directly with recruiters, and participate in skill-building workshops and inspiring panels. Now recognised as the world’s largest career fair tailored specifically for LGBTQ+ talent, WorkFair attracts thousands of participants globally who are eager to launch their careers in inclusive and accepting workplaces.

The event comes at a pivotal time, as according to recent research by myGwork – which surveyed over 2,000 students and recent graduates worldwide – more than a third of these young professionals identify as LGBTQ+. The study reveals an urgent need for safe, inclusive work environments, with a staggering 70% of LGBTQ+ Gen Z students and graduates expressing a desire to work in open, supportive workplaces. The majority also reported concerns about joining companies where they couldn’t be their authentic selves, fearing discrimination and limited career advancement opportunities.

In response, WorkFair 2024 aims to break these barriers by connecting attendees with employers committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). The event will feature renowned global companies such as Pfizer, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Discovery, Booking.com, JPMorgan Chase, AstraZeneca, and Clifford Chance, all eager to attract and nurture diverse talent.

Without seeing visible LGBTQ+ role models in senior ranks, many LGBTQ+ graduates are unlikely to see themselves getting ahead in senior positions at those companies, according to myGwork’s latest study. 

Eight out of 10 Gen Zers are reluctant to join companies that have recently withdrawn support for the LGBTQ+ Community.

HIGH RATES OF DISCRIMINATION ARE PREVENTING LGBTQ+ WOMEN AND NON-BINARY PROFESSIONALS FROM COMING OUT AT WORK AND IN SOCIETY AT LARGE, ACCORDING TO THE RESEARCH.

ALMOST NINE IN 10 (84%) OF LGBTQ+ WORKERS ARE OUT TO AT LEAST ONE PERSON IN THEIR CURRENT JOB, ACCORDING TO THE LATEST DATA.
