Global companies HP, Sodexo, Pepsi, IBM and General Motors have retained their position as the top 5 of Racing Towards Diversity Magazine’s Top 25 Public Company D&I Leaders List, according to the publisher.

The list welcomes three newcomers – Verizon (which went straight to number 15 in the list), Intuit (to position 19) and Twitter (position 21). Oracle climbed up 16 places in the list to position 9. Merck and Xerox both climbed up six places to position 7 and 12 respectively, and Cisco climbed four places to position 17 in the list.

“Diversity is an urgent matter in today’s global marketplace and in the economic condition we face,” according to the magazine’s Founder and Publisher, Fields Jackson. “Embracing diversity in the workplace, working with diverse suppliers, and appealing to diverse customer groups is essential for survival and growth. As the world changes at an increasing speed, our mission is to educate and showcase the best diversity efforts being made nationally as well as globally. The magazine publishes the quarterly list in recognition of those companies who consistently prove the return on investment in these highly held values.”
