This Purple Tuesday, on 2 November, Microsoft has organised a day of educational events to help companies access more disabled talent and increase their market share of the Purple Pound.
“At Microsoft, our mission is to Empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. This is why we are celebrating Purple In the UK alone, the Purple Pound – the spending power of disabled people and their families – is worth a staggering £274 billion and is estimated to be raising by 14% per year, yet less than 10% of organisations have a targeted plan to access the disability market,” stated Microsoft.
EVENTS TO CELEBRATE PURPLE TUESDAY
This is not only a huge frustration for disabled people, but is also a huge, missed opportunity for organisations who could be benefiting both socially and commercially by accessing the disability market. So Microsoft has organised three webinars on Purple Tuesday to help organisation get access to disabled talent and increase their market share of the Purple Pound. They include:
- How can business leaders gain access to a more diverse and inclusive talent pool and unlock the Purple Pound (11:00 – 12:00 GMT). During this session Disability and Access Ambassadors, leading in their sectors, talk about the importance of Purple Tuesday and what they are doing in their own industries to drive change.
- Empowering your diverse front-line workforce with inclusive technology (13:00 – 14:00 GMT). During this session, Microsoft Frontline worker Product Marketing Manager, Sarah Miller, talks about how technology can enable a more inclusive employee experience.
- Accessibility at the Heart of Design (14:00 – 15:00 GMT). In this session, Microsoft Partner talks about how it can support customers’ journey to Disability Confident. You will also hear from Bristol Braille Technology about how they are working to increase people’s productivity levels through Technology.
