Disability representation in media

The Business Disability Forum (BDF) is hosting a webinar on 18 April 2024 aimed at revolutionising the way today’s media depicts disability.

In today’s digital age, imagery plays a pivotal role in storytelling and communication for organisations across various sectors. However, while visual content has the power to captivate and inform, it also holds the responsibility of accurately representing the diverse tapestry of human experiences.

For journalists, marketers, and communicators, this responsibility is paramount, particularly when portraying individuals with disabilities. If you use imagery on behalf of your organisation, it is crucial to think about how you represent disabled people. As Kelly Knox, model and disability activist who was born without a left forearm, said: “Disabled people are highly marginalised in society and via purposeful, powerful imagery reflecting our true diverse nature, perception, stereotypes and attitudes surrounding disability can be positively changed to create a new world for us.”

REVOLUTIONISING DISABILITY REPRESENTATION

That’s why BDF is inviting journalists and content creators to join their transformative webinar aimed at revolutionising the way we depict disability in media. Led by Lara Davis, BDF’s Head of Communications and Marketing, and Sarah Bartlett, BDF’s Press Consultant, this session promises invaluable insights and actionable strategies to enhance the representation of disability in your campaigns.

The session will feature:
