The largest CEO-driven business commitment to drive measurable action and meaningful change in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace, CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, celebrated its fifth anniversary this week boasting over 2,200 pledge signatures from Chief Executives since its inception.
When PwC spearheaded the co-founding and launch of CEO Action back back in 2017, there were more than 150 CEOs who initially joined because of a shared belief that DE&I is a societal issue; not a competitive one, and that collaboration and bold action from the business community – especially CEOs – is vital to driving change at scale. Today, the coalition is made up of more than 2,200 CEOs representing over 21 million employees, and that number continues to grow each day.
POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE
“Together, we are creating more diverse and inclusive workplaces so that our people can bring their best selves to work and unleash their full potential. For our signatories, this is an exciting milestone. And for us at PwC, CEO Action’s five year anniversary is one way we are living our purpose by supporting social justice and helping to dismantle societal systemic racism,” shared Tim Ryan, US Chair and Senior Partner at PwC. “I am so proud to share that today we celebrate a significant milestone – the five-year anniversary of #CEOAction for Diversity & Inclusion – the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
More than ever, society is demanding that corporate leaders do more to impact positive social change. “There is more work to be done, and through CEO Action, we’ll continue to build trust, take on societal challenges and make meaningful impact. And we’re providing the business leaders of today and tomorrow with the opportunities, tools and resources they need to build deeper connections, share leading practices and drive action within their organisations and communities,” added Ryan. “Together, we can continue building a more just and equitable world.”
