Pride month 2021 celebrations kick off around the world today.
Many companies are organising events and campaigns globally throughout the month of June. Fair Play Talks has already featured several stories on how some are marking this month. They include:
- Retail giant H&M announcing the launch of its new “Beyond the Rainbow” campaign today; in support of the LGBTQIA+ community and Pride 2021.
- GUESS Watches launching a new colourful rainbow-themed capsule collection to support Pride month this year; in partnership with The Trevor Project.
- Kellogg Company & GLAAD unveiling their latest collaboration, Together With Pride cereal, to celebrate the importance of ensuring a place at the table for everyone.
RESOURCES FOR COMPANIES
Pride Month was born out of resilience and courage in the face of adversity, according to Out & Equal; a global organisation working exclusively on LGBTQ workplace equality. From the countless, fearless LGBTQ advocates who across decades refused to live inauthentically in the face of discrimination, stigma, and violence, to the uprisings at Stonewall and Compton’s Cafeteria, to celebrations of life and hope amidst the AIDS crisis, each one is building a foundation for a powerful, long-lasting global movement of authenticity and connection for the LGBTQ community.
There are great resources to help organisations and companies to create and support virtual Pride activities. In fact, Out & Equal has created a guide, providing ideas, tools and engagement points for Employee Resource Groups worldwide, to support virtual Pride engagements this year; as well as several events to celebrate Pride 2021.
