Black Inclusion Week UK

The UK’s inaugural Black Inclusion Week, in partnership with Inclusive Companies, kicks off on Monday 10 May until Sunday 16 May 2021.

Organised by Black Leaders, the virtual event aims to raise awareness of the importance of Black Inclusion and creates a platform for change to enable true equality for people of African and Caribbean descent. This year’s key focus theme is ‘BE THE CHANGE’.  The event marks the beginning of a week-long campaign filled with dynamic events and activities, which aim to:

  • Make us stronger as one community.
  • Create a commitment towards change.
  • Be a celebration of Black people in the UK.
  • Empower all and facilitate action.
  • Connect us through collaboration.

The event organised by the UK’s leading Black inclusion movement will not only celebrate Black people, but also be reminder of the importance of “embedding a fair and just society for all”, confirmed Black Leaders’ Founder and CEO of Precedent Group Paul Sesay. The week-long event aims to create tangible change. It will also set a course “for a better, more inclusive future during a time when our society has never been more divisive”, he added.

During the virtual launch event on Monday 10 May 2021, Sue Liburd MBE, Non-Executive Director of ABSTRACT, and winner of the Inclusive Companies Champion of Inclusion Award, will be joined by a host of powerful keynote speakers and panellists to encourage learning, reflection and taking action towards inclusion.

DELVING INTO THE BLACK EXPERIENCE

The official launch event is a brilliant way to engage in conversation about this vital topic and hear from those that are leading at the forefront to delve into the Black experience from various cultural aspects.

“We have a whole week of engaging virtual events lined up,” confirmed Sesay. “Black Inclusion Week will celebrate the Black community and will serve as a reminder of the importance of embedding a fair and just society for all. With a full line-up of events, we invite you to join us as we officially launch a national movement to help drive black inclusion and challenge inequalities within our communities and working environment. Check out the complete agenda, and sign up for as many events as you can.” Click here for more information.
