The All-in Diversity Project, an initiative supporting diversity, equality and inclusion in the global betting and gaming sector, has launched its #OpenDoors 2021 campaign for the second year.
Spanning both Black History Month and International Women’s Day, the #OpenDoors social media campaign is a simple idea designed to raise awareness of how others affect our professional development and recognise the fact that people do not progress in their careers without the help of someone along the way. The campaign asks contributors to thank someone who opened a door for them, and then pledge to pay it forward and hold the door open for someone else.
OPENING DOORS TO DIVERSITY
“The idea behind #OpenDoors is simple,” stated Kelly Kehn, Co-Founder of All-in Diversity Project. “If we really want to progress and be a more diverse and inclusive industry, we need to recognise that we did not get to where we are in our career without the help of someone along the way. By celebrating someone who supported your career, you are also pledging that you are willing to hold the door open for someone else who might need it.”
This year, however, All-in Diversity Project is taking the campaign a step further by creating a scholarship fund to support aspiring leaders from under-represented groups. It has set a 2021 goal to fund at least two scholarships for UNLV International Gaming Institute and UNR College of Business and Extended Studies’ Executive Development Programme (EDP).
So far, the campaign has received donations from corporate sponsors including: Penn National Gaming, Hero Gaming, Interactive Gaming Group, Insight Global, Playtech, Pronet Gaming and Facebook Gaming. “Donations to the scholarship fund are a true action where we can hold the door open for the future leaders of our industry,” added Kehn.
COLLABORATING TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES
“The Executive Development Programme is such a wonderful fit and beneficiary for the #OpenDoors campaign,” added Holly Gagnon, Distinguished Fellow, Executive Development, at UNLV International Gaming Institute and Co-Moderator of the 2020 EDP Programme. “This is about creating opportunities and better leadership through industry collaboration.”
The industry is being asked to also join and share the idea with their colleagues; and individuals are encouraged to engage their entire team or office in the campaign using the hashtag #OpenDoors. Click here for more information.
