Comparably, the online workplace monitor, has identified 2020’s Best Companies for Diversity thanks to anonymous employee votes.
Many CEOs have pledged their support for diversity and inclusion this year, by joining initiatives such as CEO Action, Disability Equality Index or address racial inequality. But which companies are actually living up to their diversity and inclusion pledges and actually making a difference, according to employees of colour?
Microsoft has been crowned the best large company for diversity by employees of colour, according to workplace website Comparably. The tech company received an culture overall score of 4.5/5 and its CEO Satya Nadella scored 82/100, as reported. Google, Adobe, Zoom and Facebook also feature in this year’s top 10 Best Companies for Diversity.
To compile the rankings, Comparably gathered data from employees of colour anonymously over the last 12 months, on issues such as compensation, leadership, work environment and professional development opportunities, etc.

Fintech firm Upgrade scooped the top position for top best company for diversity in the small and medium sized category. Sitetracker ranked second followed by inDinero and ClearSale.
Ecommerce fraud prevention company ClearSale scooped awards for Comparably’s Best Company for Culture and Best Company for Women, as well as the Best Company for Diversity award. Commenting on the recognitions, ClearSale’s EVP Rafael Lourenco, stated: “ClearSale strives to provide the best working environment for our teams that we possibly can. Receiving so much recognition from our employees on Comparably this year confirms that our teams feel the importance we place on their happiness and satisfaction. That’s a tough thing to do in a global company, but our people are crucial to our success, and it’s essential that we all succeed together.”
Globality, an AI-powered digital solution for sourcing strategic services, also secured a place in top 50 small-and medium-sized category for Best Company for Diversity. In addition, it scooped awards for Best Company Culture, Best CEO (as reported) and Best Company for Women.
In fact, Globality is one of only 10 global small and medium sized categories companies to be recognised in all four categories. “The four awards are interlinked, as having one of the best CEOs combined with having top, diverse talent in the industry directly leads to a dynamic, inclusive culture – one which allows our employees to deliver their best work,” according to Globality’s Chief HR Officer Sonia Mathai.
DIVERSE & INCLUSIVE DYNAMIC CULTURE
“The attributes that define great workplaces and leaders have not changed, despite the challenges of 2020,” stated Comparably’s Co-founder & CEO Jason Nazar. “The best CEOs and companies invest just as much in the growth of their business as they do in their employees. Globality’s placement on all four of our lists this year is a testament to Joel Hyatt’s strong, mission-driven leadership, and the company’s focus on transparency, diversity and inclusion.”
“These awards are a powerful example of the leadership role that HR functions can play in challenging times, and the strategic partnerships these teams can and must form with the rest of the organisation to bring values to life,” added Mathai. “Being recognised in multiple categories and placed in higher rankings in a year of disruption, validates that investing in our employees, our leadership and our culture is more important than ever. I am optimistic and confident we will continue to receive recognition for the investment Globality makes throughout the employee journey.”
