This year, PurpleSpace has organised the world’s first 24-hour worldwide broadcast of #PurpleLightUp to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December.
The event will start in Oceania at sunrise and finish in North America at sunset. PurpleSpace will spend between three and five hours hours in every continent (apart from Antarctica), showcasing the amazing strides that organisations, associations and individuals around the world are making in terms of disability inclusion and in building disability confidence from the inside out.
SPARKING DISABILITY INCLUSION CONVERSATIONS
#PurpleLightUp, powered by PurpleSpace, is a global movement that celebrates and draws attention to the economic contribution of the 386 million disabled employees around the world. It has been driving momentum for disability inclusion across hundreds of organisations, reaching thousands of employees in different ways.
This includes lighting up iconic buildings purple, holding events, developing workplace policies for disabled employees and sparking conversations about disability inclusion worldwide.
POWERING CHANGE
The 24-hour event will bring together CEOs, senior champions, network/ERG leaders and disabled employees to connect, share their stories and feel the power of change. According to the organiser, #PurpleLightUp offers the chance for:
- Employers to showcase the economic contribution of disabled employees to economies across the world and their dedication to driving the disability inclusion agenda.
- Network/employee resource group leaders to demonstrate the return on employer investment into well-resourced, well-led networks; sharing their organisation’s strategic plans for the year ahead or celebrating their successes over the past year.
- Allies and Champions from every continent to share how they will contribute to the build of a better working world.
INTERACTIVE GLOBAL EVENT
#PurpleLightUp has something for everyone who wants to make the working world a better place, according to PurpleSpace. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with each other, and some of the speakers, via messages, polls and Q&As.
The global event is free to attend. Once you have registered, you will receive joining details to access the broadcast of the event on the day, as well as watch any sessions on demand, after the broadcast.
