On Thursday 9th April at 1pm (EDT), MESH/diversity will be continuing its free online interactive series of seminars designed to arm you with the ability to “effectively flex your EQ muscles” to weather the coronavirus crisis.
The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing us all worldwide to manage an increasingly frightening environment that’s changing by the day. Even as the personal stressors grow, calls for social distancing and self-isolation are taxing our businesses and the ability of leaders, colleagues and newly remote workers to interact effectively and productively.
“This is because effective distance communication is not a natural human skill set,” explains MESH/diversity’s Co-founder Dr Leeno Karumanchery . “It requires that we expand our behaviour that’s outside of our usual repertoire.”
EQ IS KEY
The good news is that “we already have everything we need”, adds Dr Karumanchery. Decades of research shows us the key is EQ. Following on from last week’s session, Dr Karumanchery will build on his discussion of the value that EQ brings to team performance. In the next episode he will be exploring ‘civility’ as a core leadership skill.
Part 2 of Leveraging EQ to Survive & Thrive in Stressful Times will cover:
- How civility drives positive workplace environments
- What incivility does to teams, engagement and productivity
- How to proactively limit the negative impacts that stress driven incivility can have on remote teams
- Why civility is a key building block of belonging, inclusion and performance.
