Seventy-five US corporations have been recognised for their ‘world-class’ commitment to supplier diversity and support for women-owned businesses, by The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
To celebrate their sustained commitment to including women-owned businesses in their supply chains, they have all been awarded with WBENC’s ‘prestigious’ America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) award.
WBENC says it applauds the 2019 honourees for successfully implementing ‘world-class’ diversity and inclusion (D&I) programmes that enable growth and innovation, while breaking down barriers for women entrepreneurs. In 2019, all 75 organisations (listed below) collectively spent more than $US51.9 billion on certified WBE suppliers.
SUPPLIER DIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT
To secure a place in the WBENC rankings, the Top Corporations must have supplier diversity language in company procurement requests and mentor WBEs to help drive results, as well as develop women-owned business as valued suppliers. Almost all (99%) provide supplier development to women-owned supplying companies, according to WBENC. Furthermore, all provide informal mentoring, 92% provide formal mentoring, 99% provide training development and 80% offer business school scholarships.
Almost all of the Top Corporations (97%) have a diversity supplier policy, and around 76% have taken steps to ensure that supplier diversity is tied to executive/senior management performance goals.
The winning companies will receive their awards during the 2020 WBENC Summit & Salute event. The gathering of more than 1,800 entrepreneurs and corporate business leaders will take place on 16-18 March 2020, in Nashville, Tennessee.
