Ben Hasan, SVP and Chief Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Officer of Walmart Inc, has been named the ‘Most Influential Diversity Star of 2019’ by D&I Mavens at Diversitystars.com.
He will receive the award at the upcoming Retreat for Diversity in March 2020 in Beverly Hills, along with the other ‘Top 50 Most Influential Diversity Stars’ of 2019.
Commenting on the recognition, Hasan stated: “Thank you to the team at Diversitystars.com for this wonderful recognition of the work we are doing at Walmart to foster a culture of inclusion. I’m honoured to accept this award on behalf of my entire Culture, Diversity & Inclusion [D&I] team as well as our many partners throughout the Walmart enterprise who help move us forward on our road to inclusion.”
According to D&I Mavens, this annual retreat helps to create ‘unique and out-of-the-box content’ to support those in their workforce with diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Hasan and his team are responsible for advancing Walmart’s culture and the development of behaviours that embrace D&I at all levels of the company, as well as the promotion of the company’s external reputation as a great place to work.
Hasan joined the retailer in 2008 and served as Senior Vice President Strategic Services in Walmart Technology before starting his D&I role in July 2015. Prior to Walmart, he worked for 11 years at Dell Inc, where he progressed through several leadership positions before serving as Vice President of Corporate and Product Group I/T.
He also serves on several boards of national and local organisations, including the Walmart Foundation, Catalyst Board of Advisors, Ron Clark Academy (Atlanta), United Negro College Fund and Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce.
