Girls Talk London has organised a tech summit in partnership with Facebook and LinkedIn, to address the declining number of UK Black girls entering the technical fields.
“There has been a 13% decrease in the number of Black women working in technology and we want to address this imbalance by giving Black female talent in the UK access to opportunities in this incredible sector,” said the organiser.
The event is scheduled to take place on Friday 29th November 2019 at Facebook’s London headquarters.
STEM FOCUS
The Summit will focus on Black girls studying a STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) subject at sixth form, college, university or have recently graduated and are looking for a way to break into this competitive sector. It also encourages those who have not studied STEM subjects at any educational stage, but have a strong passion and desire to work in tech to attend, as it will give them the opportunity to explore a variety of technical and business roles within technology.
The organiser has lined up a day packed full of demos, talks, panels and the opportunity to meet with senior leaders and recruitment teams from Facebook and LinkedIn. It will also give young girls the opportunity to meet other Black women who have a passion for technology, added the organiser. Attendees will get the opportunity to take a tour of Facebook London and are invited to a networking party, after the Summit.
