The Business Disability Forum has announced that its next Scottish Conference will take place on Thursday 30th January, 2020.
Following the success of the last two Scotland events (in 2017 and 2018), the next conference will be hosted again by the Royal Bank of Scotland at its Gogarburn Headquarters in Edinburgh, confirmed the organiser.
Themed Disability and beyond: All of me, the conference will explore the different aspects of identity and disability. According to statistics from St Andrews University ‘around one fifth of Scotland’s population – one million people – define themselves as disabled’. As well as being disabled, they are also men, women, black, white, Asian, gay, straight, cis- or transgender. The conference will provide the opportunity to discuss the intersections between disability and other protected and unprotected characteristics of people.
KEY TOPICS
The event will also explore whether the Equality Act 2010 and the way in which organisations compartmentalise people by protected characteristics will continue to work in 2020 – and beyond – or if things need to change.
Other topics include:
Is the Equality Act 2010 fit for 2020?
Employee Networks: Part of me
Men: Health, work and identity
Men and mental health
Too hot to handle? Women of a certain age
All of us: accessible tourism in Scotland
