The European Diversity Awards announced the winners of 2019, at an awards ceremony celebrated last week.
Thomson Reuters scooped the HSBC Company of the Year award for its ‘holistic and long-term commitment to equality, and having delivered significant progress in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace’.
TSB’s Peter Markey won the Abercrombie & Fitch Diversity Champion of the Year award, for ‘championing diversity, equality and inclusion’ (DE&I) at the bank. Diva Media Group’s Diversity Ally of the Year award went to Manchester United’s Richard Arnold.
The BBC’s ‘The 50:50 Project’ was awarded United Health’s Diversity Team of the Year award for ‘delivering change in DE&I’ at the media corporation, while HSBC’s Birgit Neu scooped Deutche Post DHL Group’s Head of Diversity of the Year award.
INSPIRATIONAL ROLE MODELS
Natalie Bickford, Group HR Director of Merlin Entertainments won the Sedulo HR Champion of the Year award, for ‘leveraging her influence to ensure that the values of diversity and fairness are at the heart of the organisation’s HR policies, and ensuring her workplace has diverse talent across all sections of the company’.
Manchester United’s Inspirational Role Model of the Year award went to Mars Petcare’s Chief HR Officer Erica Coletta, for ‘developing a culture that allows the most skilled and talented people to succeed, regardless of gender, race, physical abilities or sexual orientation’. Hiscox’s Wemind Employee Network won the award for Employability Outstanding Employee Network.
Accenture’s Social Mobility Initiative award went to MS Amlin for its outstanding commitment to encouraging social mobility, ensuring that ‘people from all backgrounds enjoy equal opportunities for career advancement and success’.
OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS
Kantar received the Weconnect International Supplier Diversity Programme award. TSB’s Marketing Campaign Award was won by Manchester United’s ‘Hatred’ campaign, and 17-year-old nuerodiversity advocate Siena Castellon scooped the Kantar Campaigner of the Year Award, for her DE&I campaign work across Europe.
Societe General Charity of the Year award went to the Royal College of Psychiatrists for its outstanding DE&I work across Europe. The Community Project of the Year award, sponsored by Heathrow, went to Wiener Tafel, also for its ‘outstanding contribution to DE&I’ in the community.
Author and Assistant Head Teacher, Andrew Moffat, scooped the Coca Cola European Partners Hero of the Year Award for his efforts in ‘highlighting diversity, making a difference and serving as an inspiration to others’. Finally, British actress and activist Jameela Jamil won All3Media’s Media Icon of the Year award, for ‘leveraging her media profile to further the values of DE&I’.
