Inclusive Boards has announced 2019’s top 100 ‘most influential’ Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) leaders in tech, today.
European seed-funding firm Seedcamp Co-founder, Reshma Sohoni, tops the list this year, confirmed the executive search firm. Sohoni co-founded Seedcamp in 2007. The Seedcamp Nation now includes more than 300 European companies that are competing on a global scale and solving real-world problems using technology. She has been recognised as one of the most influential VCs on the European continent (in both 2017 and 2018) and sits on the Digital Economy Council.
“Role models are key in promoting diversity and inclusion, and I am glad to be one of them, showing people that it is possible to break through,” stated Sohini. “To be a truly diverse and inclusive tech country, we need a diverse group of people to start funding, we need more diverse capital coming to work and we need to end the double taxation for parents.”
TOP 10 BAME TECH LEADERS
Four of the top five BAME leaders in this year’s list are women, the list reveals. Security Practitioners’ Information and Cyber Security Specialist, Dr Claudia Natanson secured second place on the list, followed by Priya Prakash, Founder and Chief Executive of Design for Social Change.
The top 100 influential BAME tech leaders come from a variety of firms, including Accenture, Google, IBM, Infotech, Microsoft, Monzo, Rolls-Royce, Twitter and Velocity, confirmed the executive search firm. Although the majority of leaders are predominantly UK-based, some work in other European countries.
The list, now in its second year, has been created in collaboration with the Inclusive Tech Alliance (ITA), a membership body founded by Inclusive Boards, to improve diversity at the leadership level within UK Tech. A full list of the top 100 BAME leaders in tech can be obtained from Inclusive Boards website.
