Catalyst, a NY-based non-profit, has raised a ‘record’ US$21m for its latest campaign to accelerate women’s progress in the workplace. The Now Is the Moment – Be a Catalyst campaign, aims to “achieve bold, tangible progress in advancing women in workplaces globally”, said Catalyst President and CEO, Lorraine Hariton. “Our vision is to support bold leaders executing bold solutions to make meaningful change for women in the corporate world.”

The non-profit’s goal is to raise US$25m to invest in Catalyst initiatives that will help to close the gender pay gap, transform how organisations drive equity and inclusion, and empower men to advocate real change for women. Initiatives include Men Advocating Real Change (MARC), Women and the Future of Work, Advancing Women, and Lead for Equity and Inclusion.

According to Catalyst, these programmes will ensure a future where women and underrepresented groups have full participation and equal opportunity in the global workplace.

GENEROUS SUPPORT

The campaign has attracted generous support from companies such as Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, Bank of America and Chevron. In fact, donations from the campaign’s co-chairs alone – Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourl; Lockheed Martin’s Chairman, President and CEO Marillyn Hewson; Bank of America’s Chairman and CEO Brian Moynihan; Chevron Chairman of the Board and CEO Mike Wirth – total in excess of US$15m.

To date, Chevron has made the largest investment in the campaign, donating US$5m to the MARC programme, confirmed Catalyst. “Chevron’s partnership with Catalyst spans two decades and it’s generated undeniable business value for our company,” stated Chevron’s CEO Mike Wirth.  “Catalyst research, counsel and programmes are making a profound impact.  I encourage other organisations to participate in, and benefit from, this campaign and become leaders in elevating women and inclusion in the workplace.”

Commenting on the support the campaign has received to date, Hariton added: “We are incredibly grateful to our campaign co-chairs and all the generous supporter organisations and individuals that have committed to giving Catalyst the foundation for a successful campaign launch. These corporate leaders have embraced this moment to step up and accelerate progress for women.”
