Today on 2nd April 2019, we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. According to the National Autistic Society, autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. This can mean they see, hear and feel the world differently to others. Autism is what is known as a spectrum condition, meaning it affects individuals in different ways. Some autistic people, for example, also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions.
Autism-friendly events and educational activities will take place all month around the world to increase understanding and acceptance, and foster worldwide support.
