Today the world is celebrating ‘Purple Day’ – a global grassroots event created to increase worldwide awareness of epilepsy. The movement aims to dispel common myths and fears surrounding the neurological disorder and reduce the social stigmas endured by those afflicted with the condition. It also provides assurance and advocacy to those living with epilepsy that they are ‘not alone’.
Approximately 50 million people (around 1 in 100 people) have epilepsy worldwide and in 50% of cases the cause is unknown. Wear purple to show your support and host events in support of epilepsy awareness today.
